Volunteers are great – no matter what you throw at them, they always oblige. Thank you to WordCamp Dublin 2019 volunteers.
We held our breath and crossed our fingers when we put out the call for volunteers for WCDublin, in the hope someone was listening. They were! – and not just anyone either – we received applications from the brightest and the best personalities, from all over the world.
This year, WordCamp Dublin struck it lucky when the amazing Julie Sebode applied to volunteer. Given her track record with volunteer organisation and with WordPress, Julie was swiftly drafted into the organising team. The expertise which has been brought to contacting and scheduling volunteers and volunteer operations at the live event has been amazing. Julie has been completely invaluable to the organisation of our event.
Volunteers generally sign up via the website and offer their services for help at the weekend. Some of their roles include:
- Registration
- Swag
- Refreshments
- AV
- Cleaning
- Social Media
- Photography
- Tech-Support
- Room / venue set up
- Time keepers
If you attended, sponsored, or spoke at WordCamp Dublin, you will no doubt have engaged with our wider volunteer team during the event.
Finally, on behalf of the organising team – Marcin, Fellyph, Colm, Abha, Julie, Mark, Miro and myself I would sincerely like to thank you – our volunteers for your camaraderie, effort and engagement throughout the weekend. Kudos to you!!
Such wonderful event and wonderful people. I really enjoyed it. Looking forward to see next event next year!
